Black Kali – feminine power – mother earth – nature

When I was starting to explore the 12 Kalis creatively, sketching and intuitively painting, and just letting happen whatever wanted to emerge (my favorite way to paint), the beginning of this painting appeared. As I was further researching more of the details of the 12 Kalis, it didn’t seem to fit the series, so I put it aside.

Recently as I was sorting through some of the earlier sketches the painting resurfaced and this time it captured my attention for a different reason. It seemed very timely, and its meaning at first seemed to have nothing to do with the emergence of consciousness towards its purest form (12 Kalis) but more with the events happening around us right now, which also of course has to do with the emergence of consciousness into the world.

So I spent some time exploring that, and quite a powerful energy/image emerged.

Here is some background knowledge about Kali from Wikipedia: “Kali’s earliest appearance is that of a destroyer of evil forces. She is the most powerful form of Shakti, the feminine part of the universal Source, also called Mother Nature. She destroys the evil in order to protect the innocent.”
