keeping the wood stove going and painting updates…
Spending the winter alone in the Nothern California mountains, and enjoying it so much to have the space and time to myself. At first, I was a bit nervous but now that I know it’s only the mice that make a ruckus in the hallway and set off the motion sensor, I enjoy the silence, the tiptoes of birds on the roof, the wind howling through the place like lions. We had quite some storms, and resulting power outages. I learned a lot, from how to work a generator, to taking care of myself without electricity if needed. The rains were refreshing. Hope you are enjoying the cooler temperatures. I am keeping the woodstove going, perfect for cooking and warming up my food and me too…
Working on the final stages of a commissioned painting of my spiritual teacher’s “initiation”. The progress has been much faster since we started having Zoom meetings in the mornings while I share my screen and work on it as they watch and comment. I will share more about the process in a later post…
I also started a new painting of our teacher’s teacher, from a small sepia photo that I saw this time when I was in Kashmir, which captured my attention as his eyes were looking very intense and right at me. So I felt like painting it in color and big, replacing a painting of him that never quite captured me.
