opened my eyes again and I have started to really look and see…

Haven’t been to a painting class in a long time. But now the timing was right and the theme inspiring, “Painting like Matisse”. I always liked Matisse and don’t paint anything like him. So it would be a nice challenge to try something new. And so it was. First of all to finish all the paint that was still on the palette. No, she was not kidding! I was not exactly happy with the result but I was very inspired and did some more paintings with the ideas in mind that I got from the class. The idea was to paint around the color wheel. I had never even thought about that. It keeps you thinking about what you are doing, which is something I don’t do very often. Also focused on composition more. I realize I work very intuitive usually and do not think much about how I do it. Since I have been painting and drawing for quite some time now I guess I intuitively know what feels right but it is great to go back and start from scratch and be more conscious about my choices. It really has opened my eyes again and I have started to really look and see. Instead of working from what I think I know.
