There are dreams that disappear before morning.
And there are dreams that continue living inside us until they become something else.
This painting began as one of those dreams.
I found myself slowly sinking into the depths of a pool.
Looking up, I could see the square opening above me like a dark window.
It made no sense.
The surface should have been bright, and yet it wasn’t.
My lungs were full of air, yet I kept descending.
Then something unexpected happened.
I stopped resisting.
The water became soft.
The fear dissolved.
There was only surrender.
That feeling stayed with me long after I woke.
Eventually, found its way onto the canvas.
