Quartet for the End of Time
It is quite amazing what happens when creativity does not get bogged down by circumstance. Olivier Messiaen wrote this music when he was in a prisoner of war camp in the second world war. He instead made it the most beautiful thing that could ever come out of that war I guess, quite moving, especially knowing the circustances it was made in. Very well presented at the Coburn school of music in Los Angeles when they were explaining the music with samples beforehand. I have never heared anything more beautiful for some time. What is quite fascinating is that Olivier composed color (Messiaen had mild synaesthesia that caused him to see colors when he heard music).
