The Love of Allah
For a long time I have been trying to express in my paintings the idea of what is Love to God, Bhakti, or Devotion. Not all of my paintings are about that but it is a constant underlying search.
The other day I was a bit down and asking a friend about her idea of happiness. “It is overrated”, she said, and instead she gave me this very uplifting description of her Love for Allah: “It has grown so glorious that all my desires, ambitions, expectations, longings became invisible under the magnificent tree of Allah’s love. I believe it was at that time, that I stopped seeking for happiness, because I could now replace it with a superb feeling that is called ‘peace'”, which I found so inspiring that I just had to try and capture it in a painting. . .
Details of painting . . .
written on the three tree branches as the pillars of love are:
forgiving patience gratitude
27.25 x 21 inch (69 x 53,5 cm)
Hope we will all find peace this way or that way. . .
lately I am noticing trees
in real life
in artwork
in movies
in songs
this piece is delightful, i am drawn to the whimsical nature of it
Thank you Kel, glad you liked it.
Greetings to Australia 🙂
I love your art. I can feel the lively magic captured in each of them.
By the way. Also think about bliss which is not the same as happiness. In any case, I believe that the word ultimately doesn’t matter after all, whether one uses happiness, peace, both or any other word. Pretty much as Allah has 99 different names in Islam.
What is important is that you are already there. There where you need to be with all your heart. If you are in a search, it would mean that you are incomplete and have unfufilled desires.
Thank you Yilmaz, glad you like my art.
And thank you for your interesting comment.
Yes, names are likely not going to be able to describe what happiness or bliss really is.
Perhaps a bit like this…
“Happiness is like a butterfly.
The more you chase it, the more it eludes you.
But if you turn your attention to other things,
It comes and sits softly on your shoulder.”
Henry David Thoreau
